The Company was incorporated as "The Housing and Urban Development Finance Corporation Private Limited" on April 25, 1970, as a private limited company under the Companies Act, 1956, and was granted a certificate of incorporation by the then Registrar of Companies, Delhi. Subsequently, the name of the Company was changed to its present name, "Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited" and a fresh certificate of incorporation dated July 9, 1974, was issued by the then Registrar of Companies, Delhi & Haryana. the Company was notified as a public financial institution under Section 4A of the Companies Act, 1956 on December 9, 1996, by the Department of Company Affairs, Ministry of Finance, GoI. Further, the NHB issued a certificate of registration to us on July 31, 2001, permitting us to carry on the business of a housing finance institution. Awards and Accreditations : 1991 -Received "UN-Habitat Scroll of Honor" from the United Nations Human Settlements Program. 1998 -Awarded as one of the "top 10 Public Sector Enterprises for the year 1998-99" by the Prime Minister at the Conference of Chief Executives of Public Sector Enterprises held in April 2000. 2000 -Received the "Prime Ministers National Awards for Excellence" in Urban Planning and Design" in the category of "innovative concepts in the planning stage" in relation to the contribution of consultancy for the New Jammu Township. 2004 -Conferred the "Mini-Ratna Status" for Category-1 public sector enterprise. 2016 -Received ISO 9001:2008 registration for quality management system issued by United Registrar of Systems, in the field of providing project and retail financing services, resthece mobilisation for funding, consultancy and joint venture. Major Events and Milestones The table below sets forth some of the major events in the history of the Company: 1970 -Incorporation of the Company. 1977 -The introduction of rural housing schemes for providing loan assistance for construction of rural houses. 1986 -Established the Human Settlement Management Institute, the research, and training division of the Company. 1988 -Commenced urban infrastructure financing. 1996 -Notified as a public financial institution under Section 4A of the Companies Act, 1956 by the Department of Company Affairs, Ministry of Finance, GoI. 1999 -Started retail financing under the brand name HUDCO Niwas. 2004 -Conferred "Mini-Ratna Status" for Category-1 public sector enterprise. 2012 -PAT crossed Rs. 6,000 million. -Raised Rs. 50,000 million through an issue of tax-free bonds, as allocated by the CBDT in its budget allocation for the year 2011-2012, including Rs. 46,847 million raised through a public issue of tax-free bonds. 2013 -PAT crossed Rs. 7,000 million. -Raised Rs. 24,013.50 million through a public issue of tax-free bonds, as allocated by the CBDT in its budget allocation for the year 2012-2013. 2014 -Raised Rs. 49,871.20 million through an issue of tax-free bonds, as allocated by the CBDT in its budget allocation for the year 2013-2014, including Rs. 47,963.20 million raised through a public issue of tax-free bonds. 2016 -Raised Rs. 50,000 million through an issue of tax-free bonds, as allocated by the CBDT in its budget allocation for the year 2015-2016, including Rs. 35,000 million raised through a public issue of tax-free bonds. 2018 -HUDCO Women's Team Wins IHC Table Tennis Tournament 2018. -HUDCO receives Digital Leader Award for Excellence. 2019 -The prestigious award was presented to HUDCO representative during the 6th Annual Greentech CSR Conference.
