Post Market Update- Markets end with small gains. Investors eye Powell speech.

Indian indices-

It was a silent trading session where markets traded in a narrow range and ended the day almost flat on August 23. Investors await US Fed Chair Jerome Powell's commentary at the Jackson Hole Symposium scheduled for later today. Among sectors, auto index was up 1%, while metal, realty, media, PSU Bank and IT down 0.5-2%. At closing bell, the Sensex was at 81,086.21, up by 33.02 points, or 0.04%, while Nifty was at 24,823.15, up marginally by 11.65 points, or 0.05%.

Rupee ended at 83.89/$ against August 22 close of 83.95/$.

Buzzing stocks on BSE-

1. Zomato rose by 1.90% to Rs. 262.70, as company shuts down Zomato Legend services.

2. Hindustan Aeronautics gained 1.17% to Rs. 4,822, after US and India signed Securities of Supplies Agreement.

3. Jain Irrigation Systems advanced 11.16% after it signed a memorandum of understanding with the Indian Coffee Board to supply disease resistant coffee plants to growers.

4. TVS Motor Company rose by 2.25% to Rs. 2,766.75, a day after the company launched its new Jupiter 110 cc scooter, co also gets target price rise from UBS.

Global Signals-

Asian markets were mostly lower ahead of Powell's speech at Jackson Hole.

European stocks were higher as investors looked ahead to US Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell's speech.
