Indian indices

Indian stock markets ended lower on March 13, 2025, the last trading day of the week despite positive cues from industrial production and retail inflation data. The IT stocks remained a significant drag due to growth concerns, weighing on the overall market performance. On the sectoral front, auto, IT, metal, media, realty down 0.5-1% each, while PSU Bank index up 0.5%. At close, the Sensex was down 200.85 points or 0.27% at 73,828.91. The Nifty was down 73.30 points or 0.33% at 22,397.20.

On the currency front, Rupee ended at 87.00/$ against March 12 close of 87.21/$.

Stock exchanges will remain shut on Friday, March 14, on the occasion of Holi.

  • Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) surged 12.55% to Rs. 48.78, on asset monetisation boost.
  • Gensol Engineering hit 5% lower circuit at Rs. 261.70, ahead of board meet for fund raise, stock split.
  • Bharat Electronics (BEL) rose 1.21% to Rs. 280.10, after the company announced that it has received a contract worth Rs. 2,463 crores from the Ministry of Defence for the supply and services of Ashwini Radars to the Indian Air Force.
  • HPL Electric gained 4.79% to Rs. 386.95, on winning smart meter orders worth nearly Rs. 370 crores.
