Our story began just before the collapse of the dotcom bubble. On February 8, 2000, entrepreneur Shripal Morakhia launched sharekhan.com to bring the stock market to the doorstep of the individual investors of India. Only high net worth and institutional investors had an easy access to the stock market back then. We believed even the small investors deserved a chance to create wealth from shares. Sharekhan.com was going to not only enable them to buy and sell shares online but also tell them what to buy or sell.

But by March 2000, the dotcom bubble burst and sentiment turned against dotcoms. We, a small start-up, fell on hard times. In 2001, there came a point when we had just enough cash left to last us for four months. We were just a year old and were getting written off by some. This is when we came face to face with our indomitable Sheru spirit for the first time. Unfazed by the challenges, we took measures to reduce costs, tapped new markets and generated enough cash to plough back into the business to keep it running till the tide turned in 2003.

Over the following years, we put our nose to the grindstone to build our business. People, presence, products, we expanded all. Today, we are the preferred financial service provider of more than 31 lakh customers. Our vision is to become the most loved financial services partner of Indians and an aspirational workplace for Sherus.
