Stefan Groening
Chief Operating Officer
Stefan Groening is the Chief Operating Officer of Sharekhan and serves on the company’s board of directors, reporting to CEO Jaideep Arora. He drives the company’s operational and administrative functions to provide a seamless customer journey for customers and make Sharekhan a great place to work for the staff. He represents the company’s second line of defence, ie the Compliance, Legal and Risk departments, and is passionate about building a strong compliance culture in the organisation. He is responsible for all non-integrated functions of the company except Information Technology. As the supervisor of the Operational Control Framework, he leads the implementation of Sharekhan’s overall integration with the BNP Paribas Group.
Stefan came to Sharekhan in September 2017 as Director Investment Solutions and Whole-time Director on the company’s board, and in October 2018 took up the responsibilities of Chief Operating Officer.
Prior to Sharekhan, Stefan worked at Consorsbank where he spent more than five years in leadership roles, most recently as Chief Sales Officer. Not new to the Indian scene, he worked with Geojit BNP Paribas India as Director of Planning and Control from April 2007 to March 2010. He joined BNP Paribas Personal Investors in 2002 when the French bank had acquired Cortal Consors Germany (now Consorsbank). Over the years, working with various entities of the BNP Paribas Group, he gained experience of a wide range of functions including audit, sales, marketing, integration, planning, compliance, legal and control which he now leverages for the benefit of Sharekhan. He has total work experience of 33 years.
Stefan earned an MBA degree from the University of Nuremberg.
In his spare time, when he is not playing golf or listening to Bob Dylan, Stefan likes to read thrillers or log in to Audiobooks. He champions the cause of education for all children in the world.
