Dr Parminder Varma
Chief Business Officer
Dr Parminder Varma serves as the Chief Business Officer at Sharekhan and holds a position on the company's board of directors. Reporting to CEO Jaideep Arora, her primary focus is on formulating and implementing innovative strategies to elevate customer experiences. Parminder has played a significant role in Sharekhan's growth, contributing to the company's establishment as a premier digital full-service retail brokerage and financial services firm. She also oversees the extensive Sharekhan Branch and Business Partner networks.
In February 2022, Parminder joined Sharekhan, bringing with her an impressive 36-year track record of distinguished leadership experience, primarily gained during her tenure at Kotak Mahindra Bank and HSBC. Most recently, she served as National Branch Banking Head for Emerging Markets at Kotak Mahindra Bank. Throughout her career, she has held prominent positions at industry-leading institutions, gaining expertise across the personal, retail, corporate, and emerging market banking sectors.
Parminder's strategic contributions to product development, digital transformation, market penetration, and operational risk management have been invaluable. Notably, she played a pivotal role in leading the Strategic Initiative team that successfully integrated the 348-branch ING Vysya network into Kotak Mahindra Bank following an acquisition.
Parminder holds a PhD in Management, an MBA, a Postgraduate Diploma in Cyber Law & Cyber Forensics, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Finance & Bank Management. She has published research papers in reputable journals and authored book chapters on banking and finance.
Outside of work, Parminder appreciates the power of meditation, self-reflection and physical fitness. She finds solace in listening to music, immersing herself in global travel, and spending weekends with her family and a captivating book.
