APAC Diversity & Inclusion week 2021

We are pleased to invite you all for the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) week between 11th and 29th October, 2021.The events are planned, covering three focus areas; Gender, Disability and LGBTQ. This year we have invited members of the LGBTQ community to share their perspectives including a session by a colleague from the Transgender community. In addition, special workshops are organized on mental wellbeing – taking care of dependents. We hope you will enjoy this program, as much as we enjoyed putting them together.

Session with Dr. Arunima Sinha - World’s first woman amputee to climb Mt. Everest
A former Indian national volleyball player, Arunima had her left leg amputated after being thrown from a train while resisting a robbery. While recovering, she resolved to climb Mount Everest.

Session with Suresh Ramdas - India LGBTQ BIN chair, Corporate D&I advocate and speaker
Suresh is a certified diversity professional, with a passion of giving back to the community. He works for Trans Inclusion in the Corporate Space. In various forums, he has engaged in discussions to address the queer issues and mental health issues for the LGBTQ community. He has done the LGBTQ Executive Leadership program from Stanford University.

Interview with Chloe Moore - Rating Engine Manager - Cardif, UK
During the session, one of our employees Chloe Moore part of Cardif, UK will share her experience as a Trans person. The discussion is focused on strengthening inclusiveness at workplace from a Trans person’s perspective.

Workshop - Learn Indian sign language
Are you looking for an opportunity to learn sign language?
Here is a session on the basics of Indian sign language, to promote better awareness and sensitivity to the disabled.

Session - Caring for ageing parents
Many adults today belong to what is known as the ‘sandwich generation’, wedged between caregiving responsibilities for children as well as parents. We need new strategies to care for our aging parents. In this session, you will hear more on the impact of aging on the individual and the family, how to cope effectively with caregiving responsibilities.

25th October |Monday| 4.00 PM to 5.00 PM | 60 minutes

Panel Discussion - She Leads
In this Leadership Connect event, Swapna DESAI, Head- HR (India) and Rubana SACHDEV, COO – SIPL,will talk about breaking the glass ceiling, building resilience and share their perspectives on personal brand building.

26th October |Tuesday| 4.30 PM to 5.30 PM | 60 minutes

Awareness Session – Disability
Around 2.1% of Indians are part of the disabled community. One fourth of them take care of their families. However, employment opportunities amongst the disabled group is abysmal. We have organized this session to understand more on their challenges and how each of us could support. The session will be facilitated by a member from Enable India
